What or who is Celsius?
Before we show you how to convert Celsius to Fahrenheit, let’s share some interesting facts about Celsius:
Anders Celsius was a Swedish astronomer and mathematician who invented this temperature scale in 1742.
At first, 0 °C was the boiling point of water, and 100 °C was the melting point. Later, it was reversed.
We also call this scale centigrade because it has 100 degrees between the freezing and boiling points of water.

How to use our Celsius to Fahrenheit converter:
- Enter your Celsius temperature in the first field, for example, 20 °C.
- The calculator will convert it to Fahrenheit and show it in the second field, for example, 68 °F.
- You can also enter your Fahrenheit temperature to get the Celsius equivalent.
- You can switch either of the temperature units to convert to kelvins as well.

Celsius to Fahrenheit Formula
The formula to convert Celsius to Fahrenheit is:

How it works:
- Multiply the Celsius temperature by 9/5:
- This adjusts the Celsius scale to match the Fahrenheit scale’s size, because each degree Celsius is equivalent to 1.8 (or 9/5) degrees Fahrenheit.
- Add 32:
- This shifts the adjusted temperature to align with the Fahrenheit scale, which starts at 32°F for freezing point, unlike Celsius, which starts at 0°C for freezing point.
Example:
To convert 25°C to Fahrenheit:
Fahrenheit = ( 25 x 9/5) + 32
Fahrenheit = (45) + 32
Fahrenheit = 77°F
So, 25°C equals 77°F.
